Hands on Learning

Hands on Learning (HoL) is an engaging, school-based wellbeing program that supports students to build confidence, resilience, and a positive connection to school through practical, hands-on experiences.

The program provides opportunities for students to discover their strengths, develop new skills, and experience success through meaningful projects that have real purpose and value. By participating in authentic learning experiences, students are encouraged to develop a greater sense of achievement, belonging, and engagement with their education.

Each week, a group of students spends a full day working collaboratively on creative and practical projects both within the school and the local community. These projects provide valuable real-world learning opportunities while fostering personal growth and responsibility.

What Students Gain Through Hands on Learning

Teamwork

Students learn to work effectively with others, developing respect, cooperation, and an appreciation of the diverse strengths and perspectives within a team.

Problem Solving

Through practical projects, students are challenged to think creatively, adapt to changing circumstances, and develop solutions to real-world problems.

Communication

Students strengthen their communication skills by learning how to express ideas, listen to others, work through challenges, and build positive relationships.

Employability Skills

The program helps students develop important workplace skills such as reliability, initiative, organisation, collaboration, and perseverance, preparing them for future education, training, and employment pathways.

Hands on Learning creates a supportive environment where students can thrive, build confidence, and develop the skills they need for success both at school and beyond.
