Years 7 – 10 Learning
In Years 7 – 10, students can study German or Japanese, building on foundations developed in earlier years and extending their communication skills.
German
Students:
- Develop language skills across speaking, listening, reading, and writing
- Explore topics such as travel, relationships, fashion, and city life
- Engage with culture through experiences such as cooking traditional foods and attending cultural events
- Participate in activities such as competitions and film projects
Japanese
Students:
- Build confidence in oral and written communication
- Explore Japanese language and culture through topics such as school life, hobbies, and festivals
- Develop intercultural understanding using structured language resources
- Have opportunities to participate in competitions and enrichment activities

Languages in Year 9 are delivered as year-long courses, allowing students to build depth of skill and prepare for future pathways.
Senior Secondary Pathways (Years 11 – 12)
Students can continue their language learning through:
- German: Second Language (ATAR & General)
- Japanese: Second Language (ATAR & General)
These courses support pathways into university, travel, business, and global careers.
