The Certificate I in Agriculture, auspiced through SIDE is delivered on a working farm with the aim of demonstrating commercial concepts. Hillside farm surrounded by Banyowla Regional Park (Darling Range) Martin, is a 60-hectare property located 10 minutes from Kelmscott Senior High School. Students are released from their standard timetable for 1 day per week to attend Hillside Farm.
The Certificate I in Agriculture develops skills and knowledge for individuals preparing for entry level work in the agriculture, and conservation and ecosystem management industries. The course offers an introduction to many career paths agriculture (food and fibre) has to offer. The farm runs cattle, sheep and poultry. Pasture management and fodder production are a focus to support these enterprises.
Hillside farm also runs an olive grove, with Kelmscott Senior High School producing commercial olive oil. The horticulture area focuses on vegetable production, flowers and fruit trees. The workshop provides a place for students to engage with machinery and equipment maintenance and repair. Students work in small groups on a rotational basis to develop the required skills and knowledge for certificate completion. Hillside farm operates a bus service for students who can be collected at Gosnells train station at the start and end of the day, or students can make their own way to Hillside Farm. This is a one-year course for Year 10 students, who attend the farm one day per week.

Agriculture today is a very sophisticated and highly technical industry, and in Australia it has been one of our most innovative and efficient industries. Currently there are more jobs in agriculture than there are graduates to fill the positions.
Further education through TAFE or Tertiary study, Animal nutrition, Agronomy, Trade Industries, Station Hand, Jillaroo, Jackaroo, Farm Management, Plant Health and Nutrition, Horticulture, Artificial Intelligence and many more.
