The Gifted and Talented Program at Kelmscott provides a challenging and stimulating learning environment for students of exceptional ability. Kelmscott Gifted and Talented students are encouraged to excel in their area of academic talent and develop their love of learning. The Gifted and Talented Program at Kelmscott is a holistic program that cares for and supports students through their six years of education and provides learning opportunities to help students achieve their best. The Department of Education provides additional teaching positions and resources for this program to fund smaller class sizes, educational equipment, and a range of excursions and subsidised competition entries.
The Gifted & Talented Program offered Kelmscott SHS is an academic program where the students study Science, Mathematics, English and Humanities together as a unified group from Years 7 – 10. This model has proven to be successful in providing Kelmscott Gifted & Talented students a learning environment which encourages teamwork, peer support and high level motivation.
The Gifted & Talented students join mainstream classes for other subjects such as Sport and Art.
External mentoring programs, subsidised competitions and project entries, homework extension classes, university and workplace visits all contribute to success in upper school for our Gifted and Talented Program students.
